Female Fridays
Christmas is all about gifts, but not gifts you put under your Christmas tree. The kind I’m referring to are in the Christmas story in the Bible. The first gift was from Mary. God sent an angel to tell her she would have a son that would reign forever. What would her parents say? What would Joseph say? Who would ever believe her? Did she have any idea that one day she would stand at the foot of a cross and look up at her precious baby suffering for a world that could have cared less? Mary’s response to the [...]

I am an over-committer. I say yes to everything. I say yes to anything. I say yes if it sounds fun. I say yes if it sounds boring. I say yes if I am bored. I say yes if my calendar is packed. I say yes if I think I am capable. I say yes if I think there is some shred of hope I could figure it out. And this week I hit my wall. I’ve hit my max. This morning while trying to get it all done, I had to swing back by our house to pick up something [...]
Thirsty Thursdays
We started building our home this summer. Visions danced in my head of Christmas morning. No sugarplums — just a decorated mantle, fire burning, lights shimmering and the kids waking up in their newly-decorated rooms with their matching pajamas. Oh, fantasyland! Then, reality hit. We were over-budget and had to make adjustments, which caused a delay. We are now scheduled to move in January. God had a better plan. I’ve never thought of myself as a materialistic person. I usually only shop during a sale or with a coupon. I am perfectly happy driving a dented minivan with lots of [...]
Mommy Mondays
I can’t even count the number of books I’ve read since becoming a parent. My night stand used to be filled with books that challenged my soul and mind. Now they range from breastfeeding to discipline to yes, even, potty time. But there is one thing I’ve learned that books can’t tell me: Only Chris and I will know how best to raise our kids. I don’t say that to sound prideful or conceited. I certainly don’t say it because we are experts in all things parenting (or even a few things). But I have been convicted that at some [...]

She had been under the care of many doctors. All of her money went towards finding a cure for her condition. However, instead of getting better, she was getting worse. She had been bleeding for twelve years. This condition isolated her, as she was considered ceremonially unclean. Anyone who touched her would have been considered unclean as well. The story of this woman is found in three of the four gospels in the Bible (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) and has always fascinated me. When I was younger, the story was intriguing to me because she was healed by simply touching the [...]

Acts 3: 1-11 tells the story of a man who usually sat at the Temple gate called “Beautiful” to beg for provisions. On this particular day, Peter and John were entering the Temple from that very gate and the man asked them for a handout. He might as well have been the beggar at the street corner. Peter

Ear piercing screams reverberated through the indoor pool area. Arms were swinging, legs were flailing. I scooped her up in a side armed fashion on my hip to avoid the barrage of hits and kicks. With my free arm I pushed the stroller with my 3 month old daughter and held my head high. I did my best

No, I’m not referring to Chicken Nuggets, although my girls love them. I’m talking about little “gold nuggets” from God that He gives me to combat REJECTION. I spend quite a bit of my spare time pursuing my passion for acting. As audition notices pop up, I submit my resume, photos, and links

Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:7 NLT)
