Yesterday was Independence Day
Celebrating freedom
And this reminds me
That there is much to celebrate
Because Jesus died
To set us free
But the question remains
Are you popping off fireworks?
And sparklers?
Celebrating your freedom
Every day?
Or like the 4th of July
Do you just celebrate it once a year?
Holidays serve as reminders
Markers to let us know to stop
And give thanks
For what we’ve been given
But when it comes to our freedom in Christ
Every day should be a holiday
Every day should be fireworks
Because you were lost
And now you’re found (Luke 15:23-24)
You were dead in your sin
And now you’re alive in Christ (Romans 6:1-11)
Where there once was shame
There will now be honor (Isaiah 61:7)
Where there once was mourning
Now there is dancing! (Psalm 30:11)
And we can now trade our sorrows for joy! (Psalm 30:5)
Don’t forget
That He didn’t die so that you could have
One day of freedom
He died
To give you eternity
And in light of that
Shouldn’t every day be a celebration?
He set us free (Galatians 5:1)
So bask in it
Celebrate it
And remember
As His Children
Every day is Independence Day
So let freedom ring!

Love this, Holly. So true – we are more than free every day!
